It's A Keeper
The cons: Stock design produces more recoil than it should. Seems the stock was made for iron sights, and not for a scope. I put a muzzle break on it and it helped out a lot. I free floated the barrel with a Dremel tool. I put a YoDave trigger spring in it and a Limbsaver recoil pad also. Pros: After all of that, and with my reloads, it shoots half MOA with several different bullets. The action is the smoothest I have ever worked for a factory new rifle. I added the beaver tail forearm and forward pistol grip as it is a modular system which is nice. With a harris 6-9 swivel bipod, I am now ready to lay waste to the invading hordes of coyotes that are decimating our deer herds. Depending how the season goes, I might put a different stock on it. ...more
awesome rifle
these guns are accurate right out of the box. I was seasoning the barrel and fired 1 inch groups at 100yds. I am no sniper by any means, but the rifle will make you feel like 1. The only thing I am going to do is adjust the trigger down to 2 lbs and it will shoot even better! Just know that when you buy one the rail/base is already on the gun so all you need is the special tikka style rings that mount on the receiver. ...more
Tikka T3X Lite =Balanced On target reliable 270
I have been very pleased with T3X sure shot accuracy and ergonomics. Put a quality scope on it and you are sure to zero in on your long range target. Easy to break down and clean. So well built I know it's a keeper. I plan to pass down my Tikka to family so future generations get the pleasure I enjoy. Cabela's gave me a great deal on it too, Thanks. ...more
great hunting rifle
Used a 7mm08 now for 6 years. Have shot several big blacktail bucks that were nearly 200lbs . Very accurate , 1/2 MOA at 200 yards with handloads. Light enough to carry all day on hikes. Has no flaws , one of the best rifles made. You can feel it is made by real hunters . Trigger is so light that I cannot remember pulling it on all the deer I have shot but they all went down with 1 hit. ...more
Amazing accuracy.
I’m left handed. All my hunting buddies are cursed with being right handed. When they introduced me to hunting I got equipped with and shot right handed for many years with their older gear. Last couple of years I’ve been converting over to left handed firearms. For deer hunting I researched for a couple of years and talked with Cabelas sales team at their store before I settled on my Tikka T3X. I mounted a Leupold VS1 scope from Cabelas. ...more
Best rifle i have owned so far
Bought the tikka in 30-06 December 2016. First trip to the range sold me on tikka forever. Bolt is super smooth and 1 inch groups were easily accomplished. Its very light and jumps pretty good from a rest, but the recoil pad worked great and shooting offhand, kneeling or sitting made recoil a non issue. All my bolt actions will be tikka from now on. ...more
Be aware you can easily lose the bolt!
First, the rifle performs well ... in the shooting range but in the field, there is a very serious drawback.During a hunting trip, i lost the bolt! it appears when i was walking with the rifle on my side, on a rough terrain, it just takes the bolt handle getting snagged to let the bolt drop back and then when the rifle swings against my pack the bolt release gets pressed and the bolt goes out.I called the Tikka / Berreta headquarter to get a spare bolt, omg totally useless. The only answer i got was they have to get the part from overseas and that will take a while!i checked on the net and it appears the problem occurs to other people as well and the best option is to buy another rifle!!!So, i don't advice to purchase such rifle if you go to rough terrain, there are many other similar rifle options without such drawback. ...more
