This was my first order from buds and i will definitely do businesses with them again. They handled the order quickly and smoothly. As for the gun, its utterly reliable and comfortable to shoot for a 44 magnum. The gun had some scratches on the ejector rod housing and on the rear of the frame, but that can be buffed out. The sights were off about 6 inches to the right, but a little tinkering set things right. ...more
Shipping was slightly delayed. Gun was recieved in perfect condition. As far as shooting it. It is a Ruger single action 44 mag. 4.62 inch barrel. All I can say is OUCH!!! It bites. Make sure you have a shooters glove just in case.
This 44 Mag is beautiful, and a great shooter. Will be using Buds again! Very fast shipping, even to Alaska!

I have owned the Super Blackhawk hunter and now this 4 5/8 version. The 4 5/8 Super Blackhawk is by far the handier gun. I have a little over 700 rounds through it so far with no problems whatsoever. About half full house magnums and half .44 special level loads. Gun is built like a tank and is great for the range or the field. If you love the old single action feel and want a reliable weapon from a reputable manufacturer then this Ruger is it! ...more
Fit and finish poor, Grip frame fit poor with long sharp edges. Trigger gritty and long creep. Rough tool marks or no attempt to finish out the casting marks. Very rough ruger! Returned to factory and many of the issues corrected with speedy service. Still many rough tooling marks though.

The revolver was everything you'd expect a Ruger to be. It was brand new and in pristine condition. What really stood out was Bud's service, though. Well I finally got to shoot my new .44 mag Blackhawk. I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed with it. :( On the second shot the cylinder locked up due to the "base pin" (cylinder pin) coming loose from the locking base pin assembly and sliding forward alongside the barrel. After pushing it back in several times, we only fired 12 rounds and the problem repeated every few rounds, so we quit and did some research online. There I discovered this seems to be a universal problem with Ruger Single Action revolvers which is fixed with after market parts. I also think the attention to detail in the finish work is not what it used to be. I feel Ruger is rushing guns out the door without sufficient quality control. I'm really surprised to run into these issues on what is a "staple" gun of which probably millions or at least hundreds of thousands have been made. One shouldn't have to buy after market parts for a new gun to make it work. Other than that it's a blast to shoot, literally! We were shooting jugs of water. The 9mm made a little entry hole and a little bigger exit hole. The .45acp FMJ made a bigger entry hole and about the same size exit. The .44 Blackhawk blew the jug to pieces and kicked it about 5 feet into the air and maybe 6 feet backwards! So go ahead... make my day! :) ...more
