How would you like to rate Ruger AR-556?
The RUGER AR-556 Pistol chambered in .300 Blackout with a 10.5 barrel, a Black finish, & telescoping rist stock is exactly as advertised and what I wanted. 1st, A company with a good reputation for producing good guns. 2nd, A caliber that was designed from the ground up to work out of a short barrel (The .556 / .223 ballistics out of a 10.5 inch barrel would NOT be my first choice.) This thing handles like a submachine gun. If you are looking for a very quick "poke em in the face" to 100 yd. house, barn, yard gun. then this fits the bill perfectly for me. Plus the threaded barrel for "accessories" is a nice bit of icing on the cake. Carl ...more
An excellent rifle and. Wonderful buying experience. The AR-556 is a beautiful rifle with numerous features. This is my first AR and I am very pleased with what I have see so far. I only have had it for a couple of days so I cannot comment on the accuracy or reliability, but I plan on doing that soon. The rifle is a very nice looking rifle with just enough features that made me realize this is a great deal. Ruger has been very good to me in the past so I am very happy to own another Ruger product and continue that excellent ownership experience. The rifle did come heavily oiled as others have mentioned but that is no big deal, as it is easy to clean off. Very happy with this firearm! ...more
I was familiar with what I ordered and had done extensive research for technical information as well as price. I had also handled the firearm at other dealer shops so I knew what I was getting before ordering. No one could beat the price advertised by Bud's. The only regret I had was using the cash discount option. Everything worked fine except the order is delayed by a minimum of 5 business days for the cash to be credited to the purchase. This has to happen before the order goes to the shipping department. I saved about $13.00 instead of paying by credit card. Next time I would use a credit card. You also had to request the removal of the standard capacity 30 round mag to be shipped to nanny state I live in that only allows 10 round magazines in rifles. Shall not be infringed doesn't mean much to liberal politicians. Anyway, very happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend both Bud's and Ruger for the professionals they are. The down side is that I had to buy 10 round mags to be legal. ...more
This was my first gun purchase with Buds, and the process was very simple. The shipping was fast and the price was very fair. I've put over 100 rounds through my AR-15 so far and no problems. Just because this is an entry level AR, dont let the price fool you. People with me that day had AR that cost 2-3 times as much. And they were very impressed with my Ruger and the price I paid. If your having doubts, don't. Take my word and purchase this fine firearm. You will be pleased. It cycled .223 and 5.56 with no issues. Thanks Buds and Ruger for the positive experience. ...more
I shot my first couple of hundred rounds through my rifle with no problems at all. I wanted a rifle as close as I could get to the M16 that I shot in the Army back in the '80s. I did not want fancy scopes or other stuff. It is made by Ruger and made very well. The price at Bud's is what I was looking for, not $750 and more. It shoots great and even my wife enjoyed shooting it too. ...more
