This is a great little rifle. The free floated barrel makes it very accurate. I am able to shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards all day long. I put a bi-pod and a cheap BSA rimfire scope on it and could not be happier. This Makes it an excellent varmint or survival rifle. Action is very smooth and the box magazine that comes with this rifle is well made and functions flawlessly. ...more
First off Buds Guns is great. So is Ruger. Just not over impressed with the feeding. 1st round i tried to chamber jammed up. Being a straight walled cartridge, the lip where the case meets the bullet catches at the bottom of the chamber. The .17 probably feeds perfect. I had to remove a small amount of material with a rotory tool to make a "feed ramp." This happened with both Hornady and CCI ammo. Ruger has always given me the impression of over building things, which i like. The rifle doesn't feel cheap. Just the feeding issue is a little disappointing on a brand new rifle using 2 good names in ammo. ...more

Had a CZ 455 in 17 hmr that I wanted to convert to 22 wmr. That is supposed to be possible, but could not get the 22 wmr barrel. Sold it and looked around for a 22 wmr bolt action. At first, I did not pay much attention to the Ruger ARR because of the tinker-toy-style trigger group (is there any Mauser with e-clips?), but I was impressed with the user-serviceable bolt (yes, you can actually disassemble and clean it), the free-floated barrel, recessed crown, and inter-changeable stock combs. It even has rimfire rails and iron sights. But I wanted to put on a Romeo 5 red dot, which needs a Weaver or picatinny base. Ruger did not skimp (unlike CZ) because the receiver is drilled and tapped as well. I ordered a Warne 2-piece base (only 1 needed for the Romeo) at the same time. Got everything in 3 days. While waiting I read (watched) reviews by Randy Wakeman and NutnFancy, who were very impressed. In my experience (about 200 rounds so far), they are right. Ruger has produced (in America, of course) a high-quality, inexpensive rifle. The compact (18 inch barrel) length of pull is a bit short for me, but good for my shooting partner, and the weight (5.5 lbs or so, with scope and ammo) is great (same as the M1 Carbine). As far as accuracy goes, my partner shot 9 rounds off-hand (standing) at 25 yards, and they made one blob (all touching). We have disassembled bolt (includes extractor), bolt catch, and magazine catch (includes ejector)__all but the trigger and the magazine itself. We will get around to those. ...more
Fantastic rifle! Light weight, well built, smooth operation. As for accuracy, I've only shot it using the open sights and wow, it's really dead on. Shooting from the bench I was getting nice tight groups, I imagine with a scope, you could really reach out there. I would expect no less from Ruger. I'm very pleased with this rifle and I'm looking forward to getting one in .22lr at some point too. Bud's was great as usual, I really appreciate the layaway programs (especially when I can get the 180 day layaway on the gun I want). ...more
I have had the gun now for several months and am totally satisfied with it. I have it hanging above my backdoor for my critter gun. Of course I shot it when I first got it to see how accurate the sights are and they are dead on, I don't use a scope. It has probably had about 100 rounds through it and not a single problem. I would highly recommend this gun and BUDS to any and everyone. ...more
