This Marvin Mossberg Maverick shotgun is great have not had a chance to shoot it yet but I simply love it runs so smooth Olga reviews and YouTube and other site like full 30 it a thumbs up really is light it's not really heavy I'm thinking by the end of the month to go or where I live it's not too many open Open Spaces but I do recommend it ...more

Many years ago in SE Asia I carried a Winchester Defender and I thought it was the best shotgun I ever could depend on. As a police officer I was introduced to a Mossberg 500 and 590rnboth commanded my respect. The only difference I see in this Maverick 88 is the safety location, it shoots as good and does the same as the previous 3 weapons I mentioned. Excellent shotgun for the money I spent !!! ...more

Graet price for a real work horse. Have had this shoutgun for a few years now and put every type of round down it with out issue. One of the best shotguns out there for the price.
The Mossberg Maverick 88 is a well built and attractive shotgun! There are a ton of accessories and aftermarket options available for it, and like all Mossberg shotgun products, you know you have quality and reliability built right into it.
I believe for the price of this gun you can%u2019t beat it for its intended purpose. Being an 870 guy and this being my first mossberg shotgun, I wasn%u2019t aware that the barrels aren%u2019t interchangeable with guns of a different magazine tube length. For that purpose, I probably would have went with the 6 shot security model or the 6 shot Maverick combo so I could swap on a field barrel when needed but that%u2019s my oversight not the guns fault. For a dedicated home defense weapon, this gun is great. Three times I fast fired a magazine full of cheap Winchester Universal shells with no issues. Besides the safety location, it feels exactly like the Mossberg 500 Turkey model I bought with this gun as far as the action and mechanics when cycling shells. I%u2019d certainly recommend this gun as a dedicated home defense gun. ...more

Mike, 500/590 stocks will fit the Maverick. My local gun shop sells shotgun stocks and they say that right on the box. It's the forends that don't interchange. The Maverick forend is glued onto the action arms.
