ArmaLite AR-30 Features

The Armalite AR-30 is a bolt-action precision rifle designed for accurate long-distance shooting.  This rifle is built on a chassis system to improve accuracy and has a 26 inch barrel to offer plenty of velocity and has a factory-installed “roadblock” style muzzle brake to help tame the recoil.  The optics rail on this gun is cut directly into the receiver to improve accuracy further as there are no screws that can work themselves loose.

ArmaLite AR-30 Capacity

The Armalite AR-30 is chambered in the ultra-precise, high-speed-low-drag, hard-hitting and high-flying long-range precision caliber favored by competitive shooters, military snipers and big-game hunters, the .338 Lapua Magnum.  This rifle feeds from a detachable magazine with a 5 round capacity.
The AR-30 measures 42 inches long and has an unloaded weight of 13 pounds.  This usually ends up north of 15 pounds once a scope and bipod are attached.  At a minimum of 16 pounds with a full magazine, scope and bipod, this rifle is not something you’d like to carry in your arms over long distances without adding a padded sling.  Most users of this rifle typically carry it from their car to the shooting bench at their local range, and even that can draw complaints.

ArmaLite AR-30 Mobility

Mobility

ArmaLite AR-30 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The AR-30 has an excellent advantage over early-2000’s precision rifles as its pistol grip is literally the same one as an AR15, and with today’s aftermarket support, you can easily swap it out for one that offers the ergonomics you are looking for.  The newer rifles have a fixed stock with a fine-adjusting buttpad and cheek riser that allows you to tailor the stock to fit your body for a perfect sight picture and length of pull.

ArmaLite AR-30 Fit & Finish

The AR-30 is built on a hardened steel receiver on an aluminum chassis clad with a high-strength composite that has straight-line grip texturing that looked outdated when it first hit the market.  Accuracy was the main focus when this gun was built with comfort riding shotgun and looks taking a back seat, and this offered a 1-MOA rifle with basic commercial ammunition.
