This is a very good little rifle, the magpul stock being fully adjustable helps this gun fit like a glove. I fully action bedded this rifle before I took it out to the range, it has a Leupold VX-6HD 5-25, mounted in a Near manufacturing alpha mount. After zeroing, I took it out to 100 yards for accuracy testing with 140gr Hornady Amax and 147gr ELD match. It did not like the 140gr Amax ammunition as it printed 1.5%u201D 5 shot groups. However, the 147gr ELD match was a different story, it consistently shot sub half minute groups with this ammo and that saying something considering the pro x trigger that comes in this rifle is by far the worst trigger I%u2019ve ever used. If you are buying this rifle, do yourself a favor and order a aftermarket trigger as this is the only reason I gave this gun 4 stars. ...more
Outstanding service from BudsGunShop. Rifle was my Birthday gift to me. Read numerous reviews on many different rifles and I kept coming back to this one. Didn't think at my advanced age that a chassis system was right for me. I have always been happy with Magpul products, and it appeared all the work had been done to make this an excellent target rifle as well as a long range hunter. The action is very smooth, and the stock is solid, fit and finish were very good. I added a Vortex scope, Triggertech trigger and a muzzle brake. Purchased some Hornady, American Gunner,140 gr BTHPs for barrel break in and brass for my reloads. Got to the range today and set up at 25 yards. Took five shots to zero, not the rifles fault, I just wasn't familiar with the scope, adjustments very fine and the adjustments correctly walked the bullets into zero. I loaded another five rounds in the magazine and chose a corner target to verify zero. All five shots touching, and under 1/2 inch. Rifle performed with no problems. However with the shortest cheek piece, it was still hard to shoot with earmuffs. I will be moving to the 100 yard range next week and using ear plugs for hearing protection. Very happy with this purchase. Looking forward to some long range target work, and an occasional zombie attack! Thanks Remington for a quality product and Buds for outstanding service. ...more
I purchased this rifle based on it checked multiple boxes for me....IE heavy barrel, 22 inch barrel, extended bolt knob, aluminum bedding block, and ability to have 10 round magazines. I was however concerned that accuracy would not be on par with a Savage 110 or even a Ruger American Predator. I have owned both and both didn't scratch every itch that I had, the Savage and its magazine and even though it had an ac-cu stock still felt flimsy, the Ruger and its 18" barrel and the fact that the stock is awful (and yes I know the Remington is twice the price bu trust me its twice the gun). Now again I was worried about accuracy but that worry is over now with 2 different range trips it shot consistently just shy over a 1/2 inch hand loaded with 168gr Nosler Custom Competitions loaded with Varget. No sled just a tripod shooting rest and sand bag in the rear. Great Job Remington! FINALLY ...more
So far I am very impressed with this rifle. I zeroed it and worked up a load for it and the rifle is already showing 3/8 group potential at 100 yards. I got the rifle for my 14 yo daughter and she was making first round hits at 400 and 615 yards. I will continue to test it at further distances, but so far very pleased. ...more
When the Model 700 Magpul debuted at SHOT Show earlier this year in .260 Remington and .308 Win, the murmurs around Remy’s booth were all about Creedmoor and the firearms maker has given the people what they want with their new offering. Like the other rifles in the Magpul series, the gun uses a 22-inch heavy free-floated barrel and a short action with a tactical bolt handle. Ready for big boy cans, they come with a threaded muzzle to accept a suppressor, but what really identifies the line is the reinforced polymer Magpul Hunter stock. Adjustable for length of pull, the stock has three comb height inserts and an aluminum bedding block.
