The popularity of certain calibers changes from time to time. Maybe that has more to do with the innovation of new calibers or making existing calibers more effective. I heard not that long ago that many law enforcement officers choose 40 caliber pistols. Does anyone have any opinions as to why that is? Wouldn't a 45 be more effective in a deadly force scenario? The only reason I have heard for the choice of a 40 caliber pistol is that it offers more stopping power than a 9mm and a higher ammunition capacity than a 45. Does that sum the choice up or is there more to it?
